APPLICATIONS
Surfacing of boring mills, crusher teeth, dipper teeth, rail crossings and filling up cavities of high manganese cast iron.
CHARACTERISTICS
VHF-NiMn is a basic coated which electrode which deposits weld metal containing 12 – 14% manganese with approximately 3% nickel. The deposit has a reduced tendency for cracking and heat embrittlement compared with plain 12 – 14% manganese weld metal. Suitable for building up worn 14% manganese steel components. It is not recommended for joining manganese steel to mild or to itself.
GUIDELINE IN USAGE
1.) Preheating at more than 300ºC followed by very slow cooling is required.
2.) Multiple layers should be avoided.
3.) A buffer layer with austenitic stainless steel electrode is recommended to prevent peeling of bead.
4.) Electrodes should be redried at 200-250ºC for 1 hour before use.
